Dare To Dream

The end of the month is almost upon us...is it really only one more day? Seriously? Before you know it, school will be over and Summer break will be here, kids will be home all day and it will be so unmercifully hot you may go insane. They'll be begging to go to the pool every day and that will start the whole nightmare that is Bathing Suit season.

Beautiful Things

Have you all missed me terribly? I just know you have been checking up on me every day, hoping to find something new, something creative only to be sadly disappointed.
Smiley from millan.net
Well, I'm here to ease your suffering and catch you up on a few beautiful things.

First, my boys and I had a wonderful Spring Break at my parents' house. While we were gone for two weeks, a beautiful thing happened: my floors got finished! I now have new plush carpet in my bedroom (Loquacious said it was like walking on Jell-O) and tile in the bathroom. Everything looks so clean I don't want to let anyone walk on it!

Just before we left to come home, Smiley from millan.net arrived...at least according to the calendar. This is what my parents' backyard looked like when we woke up that morning:

It may not look beautiful to those of you that get lots of this white stuff every year, but to a bunch of boys from Arizona it is.

Earlier this month, I participated in a scenic card swap in my CopicCrafters yahoo group. I had never done a scene image before so I was a little apprehensive about it, but thought it would be good practice for my coloring skills, such as they are.

This stamp set from CTMH was a perfect choice and the card went together pretty quickly. Becky, my swap partner loved the card so I suppose it was a beautiful thing...which also happens to be the name of the stamp set. See how clever I am? Smiley from millan.net

Inks: Memento London Fog
Papers: CTMH Back Country Reflections Kit

Here is a shot of the inside, I love the quote that comes in the set!

The other ladies liked it so much they've put it on the homepage for everyone to see, which makes me feel very honored.

So while my "remodeling" is done, I am still faced with an insanely messed up house until we get all the furniture back the way it was. I'll have to make time and space to get creative again (sorry Engineer, that's just the way it will have to be) because I have one last beautiful thing to share. I've been chosen to join the first CTMH challenge Design Team!

I'm very excited to be among these very talented ladies and I hope you will join in the weekly fun we have planned for you!

Girlie Girls

I know I completely missed the month of February, but I wanted to share a very simple card made for a class. Back in December...before I knew how hectic my home life would soon become, my friend Alisa asked me to teach the Activity Day girls how to make a card. This is a group of girls ages 8-12 from church that meet twice a month and work on goals.
Imagine a cub scout den...only a lot more giggly.Smiley from millan.net

They needed to send a card to someone they appreciated and being so close to Valentine's Day (at the time), this simple card came to mind. I had the pieces all cut out for them so all they had to do was put it together. They all thought the most awesome part was using the Cuttlebug to emboss the Blush matte. And I agree, using that little machine is awesome.

Inks: CTMH Chocolate, Hollyhock
Papers: CTMH That's Amore Reflections Kit

The girls loved making the heart pocket and tag. I don't think I've heard the phrase, "Oh, that's so cute!" quite so many times without being at a baby shower.

When the girls got done making them, they sat down and began writing their notes inside. As I was cleaning up, I was thinking about all the times I've taught Joy School at my house. I told Alisa I didn't know which was worse harder, teaching eight 3 year olds or nine 8-12 year old girls.

I came home and hugged my three boys really, really tightly.

Now I don't want you to think I don't like little girls...I used to be one you know. But I think I have forgotten how...girlie they can be!

PS: For those of you wondering, the remodel job is still underway. We've had more rain the past week which really set things back.
