On The First Day Of Christmas

I know this Christmas carol can bring out the best or the worst in people...depending on how it it sung and how many times you have to listen to it in the season. Just one verse from Loquacious will have Bio-Comp rolling his eyes and asking to be excused from the table. Not that Loquacious sounds bad, but he has a tendency to sing it over and over...and over again.

No matter what your feelings for the song, the creative people over at Penny Black stamps have put together a collection of 12 of their cutest critters in a seasonal stamp set appropriately named "12 Days of Christmas". I used these to create very simple note cards as a secret Santa gift for one of the members of the Copic Cabana group. And just so she wouldn't figure out who I was from the postmark, I mailed 4 to my sister who then mailed them from her house and the other 8 to my parents who then mailed them from their home and on business travels.

So for the next 12 days I have these little note cards to show you...and my wonderful family that helped out but had no idea what they were mailing.

All together now, On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me,

You'd Better Be Ready For Some Christmas Or You're In Trouble

Tomorrow is Christmas and that means all advent calendars out there should be complete! I have 3 calendars in my home...because I have 3 boys that fight over who gets to open them every morning. Problem solved.

Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit...they don't all have black eyes.

This is an advent calendar I made for the Open House back in September. I wanted to showcase all the different pages in the Jingle Reflections Kit and this seemed like an excellent way to do it.

I used 24 of our Craft Jars to hold slips of paper, each with an activity to do every day. I also used our Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint to make my homemade pearl mist and give it some shimmer everywhere. The My Creations Artboard is painted with it, the numbered circles are misted with it, the stars and snowflakes from the DE Flurry set are also misted with it. I colored some with Juniper re-inker and dyed the lighter matte with it. Add in the 7 layers of sealant I used on it and this calendar really shines! Smiley from millan.net

So is this one of the 3 calendars I have in my home? No, I entered it in last months Make It From Your Heart contest for CTMH consultants. I was torn about sending it in knowing I wouldn't be getting it back. So I took a lot of pictures. The good news is I won second place and got some new products out of it!

Are You Ready For Some Christmas?

Okay, with the holiday bearing down on me and all my unfinished business, this will be short and sweet. I'm sure you have much more pressing things to do than surf the web, so you'd better read fast, then get busy.

Unless you're one of those goody-goody people that have had everything
mailed Smiley from millan.net, baked Smiley from millan.net, and crafted Smiley from millan.net since last week.

If you are, then I want you to tell me how you did it!

This is what my Visiting Teaching companion and I gave our ladies this holiday, plus a metal star ornament that I neglected to get a picture of. I had some left over treat boxes from a previous workshop that got dressed up with a tree and glitter. The tag was made with the Frosty Village punch from Martha Stewart. I'll tell you I had a couple of sorry looking villages before I got the nuances of this cute punch!

I added Frosted Lace Stickles to the Frosty Village pop ups, you know...to give it that frosty look.

Now, back to the holiday cheer of wrapping presents and cleaning house!
