Post Thanksgiving Weekend

The guests have left, the food is mostly gone...except for pie. We have lots and lots of pie left.

Can I offer you some to take home?

I've started working on some Secret Santa cards but I can't show those just yet...wouldn't be a secret anymore then, would it?

So for today I'll just let you know about some fantastic blog candy over at Elisabeth Bell's place. Who could resist the lure of 31 brand new stamps?

Not I. Smiley from millan.net

Black Friday Birthday

Did you survive Black Friday madness? Smiley from millan.net

I have only ever once gone out in the wee hours of the morning to get to a sale on Black Friday. Of course that was to a craft store, I knew exactly what I wanted and where it was. So my whole experience lasted just long enough to stand in line.

I'll consider myself lucky there were no mobs at the fabric counter.

Today is my mom's birthday. This is the card I was working on while she was on her way here a couple of days ago. I really tried to keep it simple, but that didn't exactly work out.

At least the card itself did.

Stamps: CTMH Grown With Love, For Every Occasion
Inks: CTMH Chocolate, Sweet Leaf, Sorbet
Papers: CTMH Twitterpated Reflections Kit

You can see how it closes up to a smaller card. When you open the sides, it reveals your main image.

So are you wondering how I like the Gypsy? Well after I got everything updated and synched together and ready to go, Engineer said I had to wrap it up and put it under the tree. Smiley from millan.net

No, we don't have the tree up yet, but still...how mean is that!

But you know what? He'll be out of town soon and then I'll be faced with the dilemma, do I or don't I?

Is there really a choice? Smiley from millan.net

Oh wait, he reads this...I may have to be good!

Just So You Know...

Smiley from millan.net

It will be a Happy Thanksgiving after all!

Thanksgiving Eve

The boys are out of school, my parents are on their way...with my brother and his family close behind. The food is all nestled in the pantry and fridge awaiting the melee tomorrow that is Thanksgiving marathon cooking.

I've just finished cleaning up from creating my mom's birthday card, which is the day after Thanksgiving this year. Kind of hard to surprise someone with a card if your creative mess is all over the dining table.

I still have some light straightening to do before guests arrive and what have I been doing every 10 minutes...all day long?

Checking my UPS tracking number for my Gypsy! You know, "I'm sorry" may be the hardest words to say but "Out for Delivery" is the most anxiety causing phrase to read on the screen!

Jingle

Well it took almost the entire weekend, but I did recover from the Midnight Madness that was the New Moon opening. I stayed out till 3 am...something I haven't done in, well a really, really long time!

So how was the movie? If you're a fan of the books and were unbelievably saddened by the lack of care and attention to the essence of the book a little disappointed with the first movie, you should know they redeemed themselves a bit in this one. That's not to say it was perfect, there were one or two moments of what-were-they-thinking.

But...the wolves were awesome and the wolf pack could make any Team Edward member think twice. Smiley from millan.net

Okay, I'm seriously digressing here. Let's move on, shall we?

Earlier this month I held a Christmas card workshop. Everyone participating received a kit containing pieces to make these 10 cards:

Stamps: CTMH Holiday Jingle
Inks: CTMH Tulip, Juniper
Papers: CTMH Jingle Creative Basics

And I have to apologize for the coloring in the pictures. The first picture is the true colors of the cards...I have no idea what happened in the second one and I could not fix it.

Santa Baby, won't you bring me a photo tent? I've been good this year. Smiley from millan.net Okay, define good.

*Sigh*

I suppose that will have to be on next year's list, it seems I've already got my gift coming early. I could not help myself the other day when I found an even-better-than-Black-Friday deal on a Cricut Gypsy.

Now I need to figure out how to play with it while I'm supposed to be making Thanksgiving dinner!

Fangs Or Fur

So I only have one question for you:

Team Edward or Team Jacob?

Smiley from millan.net or Smiley from millan.net

Unless you've been living in a cave, with no Internet or cable, no access to bookstores, or not been around teenage girls for the past couple of years, you know that tomorrow is the opening day for the movie New Moon.

Which brings me to my card for today. A couple of years ago I got my sister and sisters-in-law copies of Twilight for each of their birthdays. Just trying to spread the mania love I suppose.

Last week was my sister-in-law Shae's birthday. I hadn't made her card because in all the funeral plans/traveling things we did...well, I just forgot. But I think I'll make it up with this card.

She happens to love Twilight and so kindly got my brother hooked on it as well.

Stamps: Artful Inkables Fictionally Inspired, Into the Moonlight
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black
Papers: CTMH Black, Cranberry, Georgia Pacific White

I used this weeks sketch from Mojo Monday to create this homage to the book series that has all girls (preteen to soccer moms) squealing with delight.

I mean, what kind of person would go crazy over a couple of books? All these giggling females waiting in lines to get autographs and such. Dressing up and going to movie theaters to wait in line for tickets.

Pffffft.

I got my ticket months ago and if you'll excuse me, I need to go take a nap right about now. Midnight showing is in 8 hours and I want to be rested so I can scream with the best of them!

PS: Thank you for the sweet words of sympathy ladies. They were very much appreciated.

When It Rains...

No art to share today. Just wanted to say I won't be blogging for the week. My sister called yesterday with news that our grandma, Mommaw to us kids, passed away suddenly. I told the boys that I'm sad because I'll miss her, but I'm happy that she'll be with Papa now.

So where's the rain? I never check my facebook account...just don't find the time I guess. But I did today for some reason. I learned that a college friend just passed away. He was a band director in El Paso and we sat next to each other in the clarinet section a lot during those school years.

Tell the people you love how you feel, every day, because life is short.
